Sixteen pulled from the Pacific west of Ensenada as searchers keep looking for 11 more

The story
A distress call went out around 1 a.m. Friday saying a boat was going down in the Pacific about 140 miles west of Ensenada. A Coast Guard helicopter reached the spot roughly two hours later and found people in the water, with debris but no boat left afloat.
Crews spent about 90 minutes pulling 16 people from the ocean, with a rescue swimmer in the water. Survivors later said as many as 27 people had been aboard. That left about 11 still missing as the search stretched into the night.
Those rescued were flown to San Diego and taken to hospitals. Mexican officials offered consular help there. U.S. Coast Guard and Navy aircraft and ships kept sweeping a wide patch of ocean, and Mexico's navy joined from Ensenada. Officials said they would keep looking as long as they believed anyone might still be found.
